When Twin Peaks Mall was the place to be
When Twin Peaks Mall opened, it was the cat's meow. Movies, shopping, the food court — it was where everybody went.
Twin Peaks Mall opened in 1985 at Hover Road and the Diagonal Highway, then the southwest edge of Longmont. Its original anchors were Sears, J.C. Penney and Joslins, with a food court, an arcade and a United Artists multiplex.
Through the 2000s the mall lost its anchors one by one, and in 2012 it was sold to NewMark Merrill, which redeveloped it into today's open-air Village at the Peaks.
Nearby, Twin Peaks Golf Course opened in 1978 as Longmont's second city course.
