A hundred years of Sunset
Sunset Golf Course began in August 1922 as the Longmont Golf Club, a private group that leased 40 acres of farmland from the City near Sunset Park. In November 1922 the City Council approved the club's name and a $1 daily green fee.
The nine-hole course was redesigned and lengthened in 1929, and a new clubhouse was built in 1966. From the ninth tee, golfers can see Longs Peak.
Next door, Sunset Pool at 1900 Longs Peak Avenue is the City's heated outdoor pool, with lap lanes, diving boards and waterslides — a Longmont summer tradition.
